Software Engineer Co-Op, Path Planning and Capability Development

Our team of Software Engineers designs, implements and tests robotic systems and products and seeks co-ops who can participate in various stages of programming, development and testing. 
As a member of the Planning and Controls team, you'll help build solutions to improve how our vehicles behave in various driving situations.   We'll rely on you to help develop the next generation algorithms while working closely with a team of passionate engineers.   

What you'll be doing:  
  • Assist in enhancing motion control and path planning algorithms for next generation autonomous driving  
  • Assist in high-level decision structure development 
  • Test performance of algorithms on Torc's self-driving vehicles  
  • Work with a team of software engineers  
  • Take on tasks as requested, following through to completion despite roadblocks or distractions. 

What we want to see:  
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week 
  • Currently pursuing a B.S., or higher in Engineering or related field 
  • Exposure to object-oriented programming in C++ 
  • Excellent software design and problem-solving skills 
  • Must have a valid Driver's License 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Exposure in the following areas is a plus: 
  • Vehicle kinematics/dynamics  
  • Previous Software related internships 
  • Cross platform development including OS (Windows/Linux) and hardware (x86/ARM)  
  • Unit testing and continuous integration  
  • ROS (Robot Operating System)  
  • GPU processing optimization
